Faction Networks is delighted to announce that Douglas Cheung has joined the team as a Strategic Advisor and Director of Products for our OA Technologies joint venture with Davolink to manufacture Made-in-America, Zero Trust secure Faction Pods, Portals and Routers to help accelerate our mission of building next-generation secure networking solutions. Douglas brings deep experience in technology leadership, operations and product development in routers and networking appliances from leadership roles across Netgear, Cavium Networks, Broadcom and more, as well as proven skills in digital transformation and innovation.

Over the coming months, Douglas will work closely with all members of the Faction Networks and OA Technologies team to help shape and execute our product strategy and roadmap to bring Zero Trust principles to the networking hardware, firmware and components upon which the integrity of all software and SaaS cyber security solutions depends.

Why This Matters

Over 90% of routers made for small-to-midsize businesses, homes and offices in the USA are currently manufactured in China or nations in their sphere of espionage – and come pre-compromised or with deliberate baked in vulnerabilities. At Faction Networks, we understand that if you cannot trust the router you are running on, then your Zero Trust Networking (ZTNA) firmware and software is worthless. Just about everybody else in the cybersecurity industry just looks away and ignores this problem. We are solving it.

In our joint venture with Davolink, Faction Networks is applying Zero Trust to networking hardware. There will be two product lines:

  1. Faction Pods and Portals – to be released in Q1 2026. A unique secure networking appliance to protect vulnerable OT and IOT devices and machines without having to change existing routers and network software, with “scan and click” deployment in minutes and minimal to no IT support required.
  2. Zero Trust Routers – targeted for Q3 2026. A line-up of true Zero Trust routers based on Davolink’s commercial product line with “Faction Inside”for OT and IOT cybersecurity.

Pods and Portals are ‘adopted’ into a totally decentralized and secure private Faction Network via an out-of-band method that is impervious to cloud attack. The result is a combined solution for Zero Trust Security for IT, OT & IOT that has no visibility or exposure to Cloud attacks and can deployed and managed with minimal or no IT support.

Finally, Zero Trust cybersecurity has a secure foundation.

Cyber Assurance Partners

While Made-in-America and secure supply chain are critical requirements for this new foundation, they are not sufficient. OA Technologies will apply Zero Trust principles for Cyber Assurance on an ongoing basis that sets a new gold standard with two key partners.

  • Assured Information Security (AIS), which provides government and commercial customers with industry leading cyber and information security capabilities and services in C5ISR, Cyber, Advanced Computing, AI/ML, and Reverse Engineering. Headquartered in Rome, New York, AIS has multiple operating locations and employs more than 220 of the brightest minds with a passion for developing and advancing the state of cyber and information security.
  • ORION, which stands for Open-Architecture, Resilient IoT for Operational Networks, a technology accelerator and innovation ecosystem focused on cyber assurance, integration, demonstration and transition of military and cyber capabilities within Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT). ORION is a collaborative initiative between Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate, Assured Information Security (AIS), Quanterion Solutions Incorporated, the Griffiss Institute, and the New York State Technology Enterprise Corporation (NYSTEC).

Words from Leadership

Geoff Halstead, Faction Networks Co-Founder and CPO and General Manager of the OA Technologies joint venture said: “Douglas’ background, leadership and management skills across the top tier of networking companies is a perfect fit to help us develop and execute our product strategy and roadmap for Faction Pods, Portals and Zero Trust Routers. We are grateful to have him join our growing team and confident that he will make major contributions to our mission to not only build a successful product and company, but to help  transform the industry in a positive direction, addressing the huge systemic vulnerabilities that have been created by layering  digital infrastructure on hardware that is literally compromised and sabotaged.”

Douglas Cheung added: “Faction’s mission to make secure networking invisible but effective resonates deeply with me. I’m excited to help translate that vision into scalable reality,”
